Vivienne's Week Off

 


The Little One is here to tell you the story of auntie Vivi's week off! I honestly had a great time, and having a week off of one the things I do on a regular basis was a nice break. But on the other hand, I was still insanely swamped. My sister has been helping with something at work, so I've been watching the Little One a lot more. This last week, I had him every day other than Monday, and this week is shaping up for the same. But that's ok, he's adorable! and fun to play with!

My birthday was about a week and a half ago, and it was awesome! Last year, I hung out with my friends online and we watched a TV show, this year, I got to have my Friday DnD group over for dinner, cookies, and DnD! Which was honestly hilarious because my players went in directions I wasn't expecting. But my word, I had so much fun! And last week, I got to take the Little One to breakfast with a couple friends and my sibling. Much fun was had!

The only downside to summer is that it's so hot. I'm roasting over here because I am not designed for Heat. o.o Oh well. Stay cool and enjoy the sunshine!

Mental Health Through the Holidays

A lot of us neurodivergent people struggle with the holidays. As a kid, it was my favorite time of year. I had time away from school, I got presents, and I got to see my family and eat lots of yummy food. As I've grown older, the holiday sparkles have faded and grown dimmer.  There are a thousand different reasons for not enjoying the holidays, but it's not all bad. New Year, Same Challenge, New Surprises

I've done Nanowrimo since 2013, and every year it hits me differently. This year was a weird struggle. In the beginning, the story flowed quickly and I got a lot more written than I expected to. But my characters had ideas, so I really had no choice but to follow where they led. Then I hit 50k mid month. But I wasn't done, and neither was the story, so I kept going, curious to see if I could hit 100k in one month. (I didn't, but I did reach 72k!) The second half of the month was harder. On the one hand, I was able to set time aside to get writing done, but it got harder to connect with my characters. Not for any particular reason that I can name, but come January, I'm going to reread what I've written and continue from there. I'm still trying to figure out why it got so difficult, but I think it was mostly just the fact that I had written so much already by the end of the month, and I kept pushing myself to keep going, just get a few more words written. Vivienne, A Music Lover

  I have wonderful friends and cousins. Every now and then someone sends me a song recommendation, and it turns into me becoming obsessed with an artist for a while. No-one can take the cake from Poets of the Fall for me, but Twenty One Pilots are right up there on my list. One of my favorite songs from them is Guns For Hands. The music video is a good, but simple one, and I found it rather endearing to just see the two band members of TOP with a white background and blue and red duct tape. (Watch the video, you'll see what I mean.)  But the lyrics are really what get me, the whole idea of struggling to sleep, knowing the world is sad and broken, and feeling like there's nothing to fix it. But then, realizing that if nothing else, there are little things we can do. Reach out to those we know, express yourself with art (whatever that looks like for you) and go outside and connect with people. ^_^
