Now that the insanity of writing 50k in a month is over, I have a new monster to tackle....namely, take my 100k novel and cut 15k out. yeesh. That's a lot. I calculated it, and that's about 72 words I need to cut and condense from my story, per page. 72, out of anywhere from 240 to 330 is....well, it's a challenge. But it makes me a lot more mindful about wording and description, and figuring out what doesn't Have to stay. But it's about as painful as writing 50k in 30 days.
Writing is nothing if not an interesting ladder of challenges, but I like the challenge. I've never had to go thru and condense this much of my own work, so I'm excited to see how much I can chop before I hand it over to my editor. (The revisions and edits of this book will cease someday...I hope.)
